The 6th collaboration of『THE / a Rock Knit』series,  with the essence of thrash metal band “MEGADETH”.

The band’s distinctive artwork is expressed using a unique knit technique called intarsia, which is Beautiful People’s speciality. Designer Kumakiri’s endless love for music, which is also his background, is combined with Beautiful People’s unique ideas and advanced techniques to introduce a new, unlikely rock item.

A heavy metal band from the USA. Formed in 1983 by former Metallica member Dave Mustaine (vo, g), the band burst onto the music scene in 1985 with their debut album Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good! The band broke up in 2002, but restarted in 2004 and won a Grammy Award in 2017. The band leads the heavy metal scene with total album sales of over 38 million worldwide.

By making the most of the characteristics of intarsia, which requires delicate and advanced techniques and enables the expression of patterns with precise colour schemes, the graphic has a three-dimensional appearance.

Five different types of yarn are used – wool, acrylic, rayon, nylon and polyester – and the unevenness is expressed by taking advantage of the differences in shrinkage rate caused by the properties of each yarn and applying a strong shrinkage process. In addition, a more expressive three-dimensional effect is expressed through the partial use of fabric processed to produce rings of yarn on the surface, known as bouclé. Furthermore, by incorporating lame thread as the essence, the graphic expresses MEGADETH’s musicality as thrash metal.

The front is made of MEGADETH’s kids’ artwork series. Although MEGADETH’s artwork has a hard image, the kids’ artwork has a somewhat comical impression. The graphics used for this collection are analogous to the kids’ series (‘Kidswear for everyone’), a core design concept of beautiful people. The graphic on the back body was created by beautiful people for this collaboration, inspired by the back view from the artwork on the front body.

Like the Rock Knit, this sheer T-shirt is printed with kids’ artwork on the front and original graphics on the back. By daring to create a sheer material with a transparent feel, this rock T-shirt has a new and unlikely added value. The rare see-through jersey made of 100% cotton, delicately knitted with fine cotton yarns, has a stocking-like elasticity, a soft texture from the raw material and a cool, dry feel.

The rarity of the fabric, the see-through transparency of the rock T-shirt and the original graphics on the back make this a piece with a lot of added value that was unlikely to exist.

The “THE/a Rock Knit” series focuses on bands that we want to connect to the next generation. The bands are selected from a wide range of musical genres, ages, genres and fame, and many bands have collaborated with us. Expectations are high for what bands will appear in the future.

Unique children’s sizes based on the concept of ‘Kidswear for everyone’. The range of sizes from compact to oversized is also a feature, allowing the wearer to choose the silhouette that best suits their style.

THE/a Rock Knit series comes with an original garment case. The unique design is inspired by a laundry net and it can actually be used as a laundry net.
