21 Fall / experimental project

With the full cooperation of the KEKEN Textile Testing & Certification Center,

an international testing and certification organization with 72 years of history,

beautiful people’s conducted a thorough analysis of materials used in our daily basics items.

The test result turns out to overturn the common stereotypes of natural materials.

Cotton (Suvin Royal cotton) vs. cotton (Suvin Pima cotton) vs. cotton (high-gauge Suvin Pima cotton/21SS item)

In this experiment, we implemented a thorough test to learn about the characteristics of our originally developed material “Suvin Royal Cotton,” which first debuted in the 2021 Fall Collection.
As a comparison, we also tested the previously introduced materials “Suvin Pima Cotton” and “High Gauge Suvin Pima Cotton”.

Weight Measurement

  • KES [Thickness measurement]

Using a compression tester, measure the thickness at maximum load.

  • The Drying rate of the fabric

The drying rate of the fabric is measured by dropping a drop of water on the fabric and weighing it each time to calculate the amount of remaining water.

Suvin Pima Cotton VS Suvin Royal cotton

・High gauge Suvin Pima Cotton: the thinnest and lightest material among these three materials.
・Suvin Royal Cotton: a material that has adequate thickness and luster. The fastest drying material.
・Suvin Pima Cotton: a material characterized by its firmness and bouncy texture.

Cotton (Suvin Royal) vs. cotton (Suvin Pima) vs. cotton (high gauge Suvin Pima/21SS item)
We analyzed this season’s T-shirt materials, “Suvin Royal Cotton” and “Wool Polyester,” which each have different characteristics.

Cotton (Suvin Royal cotton) vs. Cotton (Suvin Pima cotton) vs. Cotton (high-gauge Suvin Pima cotton/21SS item)

This season, beautiful people have introduced long sleeves T-shirts made of cotton and wool. Many people associate wool with winter, but we verified through cool contact feeling tests that it is a material that can be worn as comfortably in summer as cotton. At the same time, we also conducted tests for deodorant, antistatic, and wrinkle resistance, and summarized the characteristics of both.

Deodorant property

We prepared two sampling bags, one with fabric inside and the other empty, injected odorants (e.g., ammonia, acetic acid, isovaleric acid, etc.) into each bag, and measured their concentrations after leaving them for two hours.

Cool Contact Feeling

A heated testing device is placed on the fabric to measure the instantaneous maximum value of the amount of heat transferred./p>

SHIRT / COTTON vs WOOL

・Cotton shirt: Material that does not easily accumulate static charge and has a deodorant property to some extent.
・Wool shirt: Material that does not easily accumulate static charge and has a deodorant property to some extent.

T-SHIRT / COTTON [Suvin Royal Cotton] vs WOOL [Wool Polyester]

・Suvin Royal Cotton: Material with a quick-drying property.
・Wool polyester: Material with strong washing durability.
