The collaboration down coat with NANGA, started in 1994 with the production of cotton quilts and is now a leading outdoor brand and especially strong in sleeping bag products. This collaboration results from the resonance between NANGA, which continues to challenge difficulties with passion based on solid techniques and know-how backed by 30 years of history, and beautiful people, who pursue new possibilities in clothing without being bound by preconceived notions. As the name Sleeping Down Coat suggests, the coat is as comfortable and warm as if you were wrapped in a sleeping bag.
Lightness is one of NANGA’s most attractive features. This collaboration also uses ultra-thin, ultra-lightweight taffeta of 10 deniers so as not to spoil its appeal, making it a very lightweight down jacket at 756g with a large, voluminous silhouette. It also uses high-quality Spanish down, with 700 fill power and sufficient warmth retention for outdoor scenes.
In this collaboration, the colour and expression of the item are very different on the front and back, with the 2-way specification black×navy and saxe×yellow. As well as the colour change, the look of the item changes dramatically by turning it inside-out: on Side-A, the stitchwork is minimised to create a solid urban impression, while on Side-B, the quilted structure of the stitchwork creates an impression reminiscent of the outdoor scene, typical of down coat.
The same design as a sleeping bag allows the head to be covered in all directions and maintains reliable thermal protection.
Original logos with the two companies' brand names, created for the collaboration, accentuate the back style on the hood.
The large frontage from high on the chest to the hem makes it easy to access in outdoor situations, with a drawstring inside to adjust the hem silhouette.
Vertical pockets allow access without elbow tension, allowing hands to be placed in a more relaxed position.
NANGA’, which took its name from the 8126 m high “Nanga Parbat”, also known as “Man-eating Mountain”, which rises in the Himalayas and is feared, is a down manufacturer founded in 1994 in Maibara City, Shiga Prefecture.
The brand, which is likened to Shunpei, a mountain that has caused many victims of disaster, is a symbol of the spirit of taking on a tough mountain, and it contains the thoughts of the previous president, Akira Yokota: ‘Let’s do it because it’s difficult, and climb where no one else climbs’.
